According to the American Psychological Association, 1 in 2 people will experience a traumatic event at some time during their lifetime. Some people can recover in a short period of time from a traumatic event and others may experience painful symptoms and triggers. Others may even develop symptoms of PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder).

Trauma therapy is a type of therapy that is focused on helping someone cope with the emotional response caused by a traumatic event and aims to decrease the negative impact that a traumatic even has on your mental health.

At Stacy Vollands Counseling & Recovery, we use EMDR, CBT, Written Exposure Therapy and sensorimotor psychotherapy techniques to process trauma. The type of therapy that is used will depend on individual client preferences and needs.

Even though the symptoms of trauma can feel overwhelming, it is possible to heal.
